Introduction​

In 2005, Sonrisas para Honduras, invited representative from BYU Idaho to accompany them on their yearly trip to Honduras. Although the main focus of the trip was the dental brigade we had opportunities to conduct a Public Health Assessment and participate in a humanitarian project in Valle de Angeles.

Main Project- Dental Service

    Working with a group of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental techs, we set up shop in the university. Sonrisas para Honduras had already provided funds for building this wing and had donated most of the equipment to the university. During the year the university used the equipment to train new dentists. During the one week dental project they yielded the facilities to the visiting dentist. During the 3 day project over 100  young men and young women received free dental work. Some of the recipients came from remote villages to receive the work.
