Project #4 - Chagas Disease Screening

​    Chagas disease has been a great concern in the community. During the second week of activities with the children, we worked with a public health agency and the doctor showed up to screen for Chagas Disease. Children left the activity and were funneled to the Public Health clinic where my students assisted in the testing. We continued to round up children, although as news spread the children hid. When there was a positive test, further blood samples were collected and we were asked to find others that lived in the same house. Only 55 children were tested 7 were found to be positive. 6 adults were also found to be positive. After the screening we met with the community representatives nd discussed the results of the testing. They had us present to the rest of the community and we created and shared informational flyers on Chagas Disease.
